Join us on Saturday, May 20 from 6pm to 10pm to celebrate our 2023 Spring Fling: Community in Bloom.
The event will take place at Freewoods Farm at 9515 Freewoods Road in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
This annual event provides support for the Palmetto Youth Leadership Academy and Palmetto Kids Music and Arts Academy which enables us to impact the lives of many children, youth and adults in Conway and surrounding communities.

HELP US MAKE AN EVEN GREATER IMPACT IN 2023
Since 2012, Palmetto Works sponsors an after-school enrichment program and summer camp which has served over 840 children and teenagers through activities promoting their success in the public schools and at home. The program provides reading, music, dance, sports, and STEM activities as well as dynamic field trips to embrace new experiences and perspectives. This January, Palmetto Missionary Baptist Church and the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship purchased a 14-passenger bus to carry students to Coastal Carolina University and educational, recreational, and cultural destinations.
Palmetto Works’ impact goes beyond Conway and South Carolina. As a mentor to Coastal Carolina University students, Palmetto Works has supervised 10 Public Health Interns. Most notably, CCU graduate Natalie Fisher found her calling doing nutrition education with the children of Palmetto Kids through CHOPS Produce. She now works for AmeriCorps in Atlanta, GA in an urban farm setting and has launched her own farm to table cooking and nutrition business called Loco Coco!
To date, Palmetto Works has supervised three field education placement students from Duke Divinity School. Rev. Kendal McBroom, Senior Pastor at Turner’s Chapel AME Church in High Point, NC, has modeled his church’s garden project after the efforts of CHOPS Produce to feed and educate his community.
